I need a shaz-dance

I have recently had a Tribes relapse. If this continues, it is good bye grad school and hello McDonalds for me.

Mayor McCheese! I had forgotten that delightful alter ego.

So are you playing the original Tribes 1? If so, about how full are the servers? Do many people still enjoy the old-school tribseing?

jacob corn, i am giving you the very sternest of my large repertoire of stern looks. did you delete magic: the gathering from your computer and swear off such addiction just to slip back in at the drop of a tribe?

gene, i am giving you also a preemptively stern look. i am no enabler, me.

i actually miss watching boys play tribes. how sad is that?

Word on the street is that Quake is the new Tribes. I know one Docta that used to play as a banana in pajamas, back in the day.

gene and jacob: fight the power. the oppressive white middle class girlfriend power.

i think i will have an anti-tribes case on the day i stop blowing off dates with gene to stay home and play "callahan's crosstime saloon."

tribes 1 is better than tribes 2. Jacob, Doug, we should form a clan and play together.

There's a game of Callahan's? Is it just as full of stupid puns?

Posted by: Jacob at September 10, 2003 06:32 PM

gene, i curse you. you're wrecking my home and i'll never see the front of jacob's face again.

michele: does this mean i'm the man?

Yes indeed Tribes 1 "0wnz0r3z!!!!!!!!!!1" Tribes 2 and all other games and forms of entertainment. There are all kinds of mods out now, so it is kind of hard to find an old school base server. There are a few still running however, and there seems to be a hard-core crowd of players that are online, shazbotting and ah crapping 24-7.

Lisa is coming back from the swamp tomorrow, however, so I will probably be playing far less Tribes in the future than I have in the past week (about 4 hours a night). I think it has been mathematically proven that hard core Tribes addictions and significant others (or wives in my case) cannot coexist peacefully. Who am I to fight math?

to be perfectly honest, and if no one here will reveal my shameful secret (which they probably will), i kind of like watching jacob play tribes. the surreal air-ballet-ness of it is fun to observe in a slightly seasick way, for those of us who hate and suck at w-a-s-d controls and can't play it ourselves.

but some things must be done if one is a girlfriend, and fighting the inevitable is one of them. besides, it's also fun.

jacob, i will now belatedly answer your question. yes, there is a callahan's game, rife with puns. it's pretty fun. you can download it here: http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=165
